Unit Categories and Rarities

Five Nights TD 2 units span six rarity tiers: Rare, Epic, Legendary, Mythic, Secret, and Nightmare, plus the Apex tier reserved for top-end exclusives like Headless Horseman Mangle. Each unit fills a role — DPS, Support, Hybrid, Farm, or Starter — that determines optimal placement and team synergy.

Our tier list organizes units into Meta, S, Starter, Support, and Endless categories based on live performance data in units.json. Rarity indicates summon difficulty, not guaranteed strength — Rare units like JJ and Paper Pals outperform many Epics in early content.

Season 5 Acquisition Paths

Season 5 units arrive through four main channels: banner summons on the hourly rotation, Season Presents from codes and battle pass tiers, evolution and crafting at the Unit Workshop, and Endless mode milestone drops.

Codes like UPDATE41, CHALLENGES, and VESSEL stockpile Season Presents for exclusives like Helpy and Scrap Trap. Endo Chips and Soldering Irons from UPDATE41 feed Rockstar crafting toward Lefty. The Pirate Event adds another limited-time acquisition window for nautical-themed units.

Building Your Roster

New players should prioritize one Rare DPS (JJ or Paper Pals), one support (Candy Cadet or Balloon Boy), and banner pulls toward their first Secret. Mid-game accounts invest in Season 5 Fire and Rust synergies with Molten Freddy and Michael Afton.

Endgame rosters center on Apex and Nightmare DPS with enchanted support. Fazcade remains the only dedicated farm unit for Endless income regardless of season.
